Pear Passe Crassane

Created by crossbreeding a pear and a quince, the Passe-Crassane is a round pear with a thick, greenish-yellow skin dotted with reddish spots. Its flesh is slightly granulated, sweet and full of juice. The Passe-Crassane pear is easily recognizable by the red wax dot that decorates its stem. Originally intended to slow the drying process of the fruit, this practice is no longer useful but remains a distinctive symbol of the variety.
